NukeScript's NSN-Nuke |
 |
BobMarion
writes "Many (myself included) are not too clear on what exactly it is Bob Marion expects from NSN-Nuke and what it'll be, a Nuke port, a new CMS, something else... Hopefully this will be clarified at NukeScripts for the benefit of those of us that are not yet clear about it, none-the-less i wish Bob the best of luck in whatever ventures he has embarked on, we at nukeresources will continue as our name implies to support PHP-Nuke, of course that doesn't mean we can't as i said, wish Bob the best of luck, if this means you will no longer release your popular Nuke tweaks then the least i can do is thank you for all the ones that did get released. Official announcement for NSN-Nuke (www.sourceforge.net/projects/nsnnuke). The basic plan to start out is to do the following:
1) Fully incorporate NSN Groups into NSN-Nuke
a) This plan included the module categories system that AI produced and NSN merged.
2) Strip PHP-Nuke down to a bare bones core for NSN-Nuke.
a) The whole idea behind NSN-Nuke is to have a very solid core and induct several
developers to rebuild or develop new modules for it based on the core.
3) Many of the functions in mainfile.php will be removed, rebuilt, or moved to the theme.php file.
4) We will maintain a list of
a) "Core" developers, those that have helped in the development of the core code.
i) Primarily AI and myself at this time.
b) "Module" developers.
c) "Theme" developers.
d) "Translators".
My main goal is for NSN-Nuke to be primarily the core of a site and the user can pick which modules/add-ons they want and download only those they will use, not be forced to use one "Official" forums package or the like. This will reduce the size of the main download and give more flexibility to the general user.
NSN-Nuke will be released under the CPL instead of the GPL. These are similar but the CPL protects the developers copyright/credits. The CPL is

If you are not a coder and still want to take part in NSN-Nuke consider making a donation that will secure the domain names and help cover the hosting costs for it's Parent site. I have an agreement already in place for the hosting but funding would be most
helpful :)
The MOST IMPORTANT feature to NSN-Nuke is it will NEVER be released to only a club, while we may have a club for funding the primary Core Code will always be publicly released!
Currently the supporters list is as follows:
NSN and it's regionals (a total of 12), Linzilla (our hosting partner), and AI
and this list will grow. We have contacted some of the prominent developers in the community already."
