Easy IP Ban Reference - eC-IPBR v1.0 released
beetraham writes "Have you ever felt yourself insecure when performing *blind-folded* IP Bans due to performed quick risk analysis? To ban or not to ban a certain IP Range? We'll, you should not feel that insecure anymore - there are ~55k lines more of IP Ranges from now on backing you up with your decision making process.

This straightforward LookUp utility, Easy IP Ban Reference, is constructed in an attempt to boost up webserver root's / site admin's ability to succesfully manage the issued IP Bans/Blocks with enhanced precission based on used reference - either in form of anticipated protective bans being targetted for certain regions, sub-regions, countries - or as focused IP Bans targetted for certain hostile IP Ranges only.

The *script set* input consists of (1) external compound only - *ip-to-country.csv* file (used by various apps/instances) which is being dumped into a predefined location for *script set* driven processing purposes.

The downloadable package is equipped with following content:

* README-INSTALL.html
* ec-ipbr-ready.zip (*ready-made end-product*)
* ec-ipbr.tar.gz (*script set* providing the *ready-made end-product* - for yours to manage and make the future updates)

You'll find more a detailed introductory with attached SCREENSHOTS at URL:

http://www.ec-clan.org/eC-IPBR-Intro/README-INSTALL.html

The package is being set downloadable at URL:

http://www.ec-clan.org/downloads.html
Demo LIVE Environment The *** READY-MADE END PRODUCT *** as seen additionally packaged within the release: http://www.ec-clan.org/IPBR/index.php
The LookUp utility is intended to function as a quick reference to IP Ranges that are in most cases, depending on the width, being composed of one or more countries, sub-regions and regions - this is where the need for precession comes along - ideally, to ban only what is considered absolutely necessary and NOT an IP more.

The latter remark may easily sound as an ultimatum not to be ever reached - however, as long as the source data being used for these purposes is valued as up-to-date as possible, many advantages are gained by using the LookUp Reference as a parallel guide in setting the accessability restrictions for the website/webserver visitor(s)/user(s) when considering the *blind-folded form of banning* as an extreme secondary option."
