Hi, I've got everything installed properly, but for some reason get this error when trying to load phpmyadmin:

Welcome to phpMyAdmin 2.6.2-pl1

Wrong username/password. Access denied.

I type in for the username: root and my password. I know this is correct because I can access the mysql monitor perfectly fine. ie. mysql -uroot -p

the conf.inc.php is also set up exactly how the manual asks:

$cfg['PmaAbsoluteUri'] = 'http://localhost/myadmin/';

$cfg['Servers'][$i]['auth_type'] = 'http'; // Authentication method (config, http or cookie based)?
$cfg['Servers'][$i]['user'] = 'root'; // MySQL user
$cfg['Servers'][$i]['password'] = ''; // MySQL password (only needed with 'config' auth_type)

mysql version is : 4.1.11
phpmyadmin: 2.6.2-pl1
apache: 2.0.53
php: 4.3.10

If I use config mode it says to update mysql. Thats seems impossible because i'm using the latest version.
