Hi

I extracted the files to a new directory.
pointed to the right url, but all i get is a blank page
nothing else.

Not a surprise, 8.0 is another untested release of junk code. Any errors may be corrected with the latest Patched files.
I really recommend a more stable version, 7.6 + latest Patched + Sentinel
