i have a field of "entry_time" set to "DATETIME", and i want to change it to "DATE"...
can i do this without losing the data?

Yes, it will just keep the data information. (Although why you particularly need to do this, beats me)

i am calculating dates and CURDATE is not calculating with a DATETIME data format...
because of the hh:mm:ss
so i need date...
but i found a work around i did not know, which was
CAST(entry_time AS DATE)
and it works fine.
