Is there an "easy" way to upgrade PHP-Nuke from 7.8 to 8.0? I attempted it once on my site, which resulted in about an hour's worth of downtime as I restored the old database and files. I'm pretty certain that I was the one that dropped the ball here, but there doesn't seem to be an "upgrade" path so much as a "replacement" path, at least in the documentation that I was reading.
Anyone have a link or docs on all the little "gotchas" if you're upgrading a well-used install from 7.x to 8.x, including installing/migrating custom files and database tables?
I don't really have any 'gotchas'
You may need to clear out your old files before installing the new ones. And don't forget to run the upgrade script. Also some errors need to be corrected with the Patched files
Thanks for the reply. I'll try this once again during some low-usage hours to see if I can get it going. After examining my database it seems that it was at least somewhat successful, insomuch as the DB is reporting version 8.0, so really I just need to get the files working correctly and I should be good to go.
The only "gotcha" I've found so far is actually a remnant that's been around for as long as I've used PHP-Nuke, which is a bug in the "Kaput" theme (the default theme of my site) where the base navigation link points to a module called "Forum" instead of "Forums" which is very easily corrected since I know it's there. Something I should take up with phpnuke.com instead of here, I know, but you never know who could read this and get some measure of help from it.
