I don't know if this is where I should post this, so please bare with me.
This is the problem I'm having:
I downloaded phpnuke 6.9 in .tar format, and opened it, and placed it in folders, etc.
Here's the problem. When I open up the file, let's say config.php to put in the db info, everything in notepad is scattered. When it's opened in wordpad it looks the way it should as far as formatting, but it won't let me save it the way i'm viewing it. Every important file that was downloaded looks this way in notepad, which is what I was using to setup 6.9 on the other sites I've worked on.
I went to phpmyadmin and tried to install the nuke.sql file, but got an error in the syntax on line two that had --
I read a post that said to change that from -- to #. Did that, and it said it was installed successfully, but I never had to do that before with the other site installs.
I'm not a php expert, but I know the drill in terms of getting php up and running, and it's frustrating me now.
Can someone tell me what the problem is and how to rectify it?
