I have so many tables inside one database. So i wanted to know if its possible to somehow use a total diferent database for forums only. I mean just upload the tables for phpbbnuke forum and acess all the tables from there. Can I do that?
And one more thing I want to convert my current Invision board into phpbbnuke with all the posts and topics. Is that also possible? If yes any convertors for it?
Converting IB would require installing standalone phpBB then using the converter available at www.phpbb.com once converted to phpBB you can use the phpbb to nuke converter available in our downloads. This is only worth it if you are willing to go through those steps, the phpbb to nuke importer will only work if importing to a new site.
When you said "It will only work if you are importing to a new site"
Now do you mean a phpnuke site with new forums(no posts at all)?
or
A phpnuke site that has no members registered nor any forum posts?
Because I have 1300 members for my phpnuke site currently and I don't want to port the members from forum to phpnuke forum. because I have the same members registered over at phpnuke site.
Not sure if there's a importer that will handle the transfer even if nuke already has users and posts but the one i made needs that the nuke site be a new one, no posts/no users, users and posts have an id assigned to them on both programs and because of that the transfer would have conflicts.
Oh I see but can I rename original nuke_users first and then make a empty nuke_users and do the import then once its done I follow these steps:
- Ask members over at forums as what name they are registered at phpnuke site.
- if its the same then i can just put the posts numbers in their account.
- if its different then leave them with the member name as in forums they had.
I know it sounds a lil stupid but hey I don't have to go with user_id in post profiles, I mean when a users posts, you can out it to $username then $user_id so theres no conflict. Am I right here?
If you are still willing to embark in the project you will need to also backup Nuke's forum tables, the process won't be as simple as changing post numbers, posts are tied to a user id and a forum id, you would have to mix them manually and hope for the best, i for one don't think it's worth the trouble.

Why backup nuke's forum tables? theres nothing in nuke tables, its all empty. I don't have anything in my phpnuke site other than 1300 registered users, every other table in phpnuke is empty.
You see I don't want to import any members from the forum, I only want the posts and its topics with forum categories thats it.
Being that the case then maybe you can import the forum data without problems, you'd still need to edit the users table manually for post counts and the imported forum tables to edit the user's id number so that it matches the one on Nuke. Do make a backup of your db just in case, better to be safe than sorry.

Greatt so all set to go right. I will surely backup the nuke database first and then follow these steps.
-convert invision board to phpbb2
-convert phpbb2 to phpnuke forum
-change nuke_user id to match the ones in forum (manually)
Anything else I would need to do please let me know so I can go step by step. One more thing when changing a users id, would it also effect the posts he made, I mean would the id change for the posts he already made in phpnuke forum?
