Hi there, I patched my website recent and I have notice that everytime a user submits a news article with apostrophes or quotes in the text, pphnuke replaces the apostrophes or quotes with backslashes i.e. / instead of '

I really need a fix for this as my site is idle now due to this problem. i am very surprise that no one reported this issue. I have searched for apostrophes with no sucess in the forum.

Please help.

Download the 7.6 patch again and replace on your site the following files:
modules/News/admin/index.php
modules/News/index.php
modules/News/article.php

After any new article is submitted at your site check to see if the problem is still present and report the results.

Hi, thanks for replying to the apostrophe problem but unfortunately it's still there.

This is what happens:

1. When a user submits an article and preview the article, nuke puts a ( / ) backslash before every ( ' ) aka apostrophe or single quote. for example, Bush's great becomes Bush/'s great. this problem has not changed.

2. When a user click OK to submit the article, it seems ok, But

3. From the Administration section of nuke, I could see that most of the singles quotes/apostrophe are gone. Additionally, it put puts backslash before every double quote.

4. When I preview the article from the Admin section, the backslashes comes before the single quote/apostrophes again.

Conclusion, I think the problem lies with the preview section of PHPNuke Preview. Hence the problem is still there.

Many thanks in advance

Have you tried this:

Download the 7.6 patch again and replace on your site the following files:
modules/News/admin/index.php
modules/News/index.php
modules/News/article.php

After any new article is submitted at your site check to see if the problem is still present and report the results.

With the above patch, when you preview you have this problem but when you submits the article, it goes away.

Ok lastminutenuke, since i have not been able to duplicate the problem i'll need more info:

Does this happen on user submitted news only or on admin posted news as well?

Apostrophes

we take the year for example in italian language is l'anno, as you see is an apostrophe. if I click on preview news it adds one ' (l''anno) to every click on preview news it adds always one '. this happens if writes one new news, or if news comes edit.

Links

same problem for the links, adds ' and the \

sorry for my bad english Wink

Well I followed this instruction:

download nuke 7.6 patch 3.3 again, unzip the file,

copy these files

modules/News/admin/index.php
modules/News/index.php
modules/News/article.php

and paste them into the same location on your web server. you will find that the dates on these three files are newer than the ones on your server.

This should work. I hope this make sense.
