Just moved hosts former had safe mode on new one does not
This was probably dumb but I took the oportunity to change my nickname "All credits" in the sql file and upgraded from 6.9 to 7.1 using Chatserv latest security fixes.

>installed old database
>uploaded 7.1 fixed
>ran upgrade scripts

Now everything is ok I can log in to admin, and log in as user, (as user my avatar does not show) but I cannot access the forums as user, (redirect to "No URL" ) can only access forum if I use another nickname, so it must be a phpbb data access mismatch.

My thought was to remove my new user account (and rejoin using the same nickname)

but will all credits be tagged to the former nickname? ie: post counts etc.

Or is there an easy way out Laughing

Any advice would be gratefuly recieved, may be a while before I can get back to this forum. Thanks

I am not too clear about what happens when you try to enter the forums under the new nickname, what message do you get and what url is displayed in the browser's address window?
If you remove that user all his posts will be either assigned to anonymous or won't display.

Hi chatserve well now that I have changed old nickname in sql file everything works fine, cured the avatar problem by editing nuke_users.

But logged in with new user name I can access all of Nuke except Forums index, Url is pointing correctly but my proxy is returning address "no URL" however I can access the forums logged in by direct links in the forum block, but I keep getting booted at forum index.

If I log out ( anonymous) I can access Forum index No problems

So could there be a wrong permission query in database, and your fixes are treating it as a hack attemp?

I know your a busy person so no rush on this, I'm looking forward to trying your 207 Laughing

thanks

Laughing So can I ...well I cleared out all my cookies and temp internet files and no problem, although I did do this before but have made changes since, so I must of been caching all the errors.

This for anyones info can also be a problem for the dreaded X on the security image.

What was throwing me was the avatar images, and after I installed a test site got the same problem. In "your account they show, save any changes and X is this a known issue with 7.1 chatserv?Update: when in account and enter save the avatar image properties loses directory "gallery"

Well this has got be beat, I think this all stems from free host Lycos which gave me problems and it may require editing the users info in database, so I have created two identical avatar directorys, not a fix more like a bodge. I'm not going to allow avatar uploading so there will be no problem

But chatserv I noticed on your site in Your account the blank avatar does not show, Red X........ but the file path looks the same...Ah well it's really not a big issue things could be a lot worse Laughing
