Your first step sould be to create Topics, you should upload any image you wish to use for your topics to images/topics these images should be named in lower case and without using spaces, underscores, etc. To create your topics click on the Topics icon in the admin section, enter a title and a description for the topic and select the desired image from the dropdown list. Now that you have topics you can add news, articles, etc. to your site, to do so click on the Add Story icon in the admin section, here you will need to create categories such as articles, news or whatever fits your site´s structure, these can be added by clicking on the add link next to the Category drop down list in the Add Story window, once that is done you are ready to add news. Enter a title for your new article, select the language it will be visible to, the category and decide if you want people to be able to post comments on your story, the text you enter in Story Text will be what shows in the main page, if the article is too long or if you just want to divide it to save space on your main page, enter part of the article in Story Text and the rest in Extended Text, the text you enter in Extended Text will only be visible to people if they click on read more in the front page, you can program your article to be posted att a certain date & time and also decide if you want the article to be posted in the main page, if not, it will only be visible through the Topic´s main page which your visitors can access by either clicking on the topic´s image in other news or by means of the Topic module, before posting the new article you should preview it at least once to make sure there are no typos or dead links, when all looks ok select post then click ok
Some themes place the edit | delete options right at the front page, in other cases when you view the story these options appear in a block to the right, else there´s always the option to find out the story´s sid number which you´ll see in the browser´s address window in the url, with this number you can then go to admin.php, scroll down and where the last 20 stories are listed you´ll see a small window where you can enter the story´s sid # then either select edit or delete from the dropdown menu.
