I want the <span> work, I added it to the allowed html tags but still appearing as text and it's being replaced by &span, so I only see <span .... /span> on the posts, how can I fix this?

I think you would need to add it on two locations, config.php and the forum's admin section under configuration.

Just added that to forum's config and just edited the config.php file with this
$AllowableHTML = array("input"=>1,"textarea"=>1,"form"=>1,"span"=>1,"table"=>1,"style"=>1,"font"=>1,"b"=>1,"i"=>1,"u"=>1,"div"=>2,"a"=>2,"em"=>1,"br"=>1,"strong"=>1,"blockquote"=>1,"tt"=>1,"li"=>1,"ol"=>1,"ul"=>1);
Still no work.
what do the 1 and the 2 numbers mean here?
Thanks for the responses chatserv

Seems to work fine for me. I added to the Forums Configuration, and then used a span in a post.
