I have totally wiped out my site and it has a fresh load of PHPNuke 7.9 installed with phpBB 2.0.17, not patched. I wanted to do the upgrade on the forum section and I noticed in the downloads section there is a package for BBtoNuke 2.0.23 Full Package which states that the package includes all BBtoNuke files plus an upgrade file that will update your Forum database tables regardless of what version you are currently running.

I dont have any extra modules or addons presently on the site and thought that this may be the way to go for the upgrade but after downloading the package I noticed that everything was inside of a folder labeled "html" and wanted clarification before I uploaded the files to my server.

I did try and update the forum from 2.0.1.7 to 2.0.1.8 as I had read previously that you had to do them in sequntial order but that upgrade did not work for me. The instructions said to extract the file and upload everything to the root and overwrite the files that are presently on the server which included the modules, db, includes and themes folder and then run the upgrade17-18.php file which I did try to do but when I opened my site as follows: http://www.mysite.org/upgrade17-18.php it didnt do anything and all I got was a blank page.

After opening up the full package I noticed that it was inserted into a folder labeled "html" and wanted to know if these files also should go right into the root structure of the site or if the files should be put into the "public_html" folder.

Thanks in advance for any assistance. I am still learning PHPNuke and didnt want to jump right in without checking on the procedure. Also, one more noob question. It says to make a backup of my files prior to any upgrades so that if it goes wrong I can just restore to what worked before. When they say to do a backup do you mean that I will need to download the files in their present state that will be affected with the upgrade or should I download all of the files in the root directory and save those in case I have to redo the site?

It does seem that the "Full Package" contains all the forums files. So using it to upgrade to 2.0.23 should be fine.

You will need to move the files in 'html' to overwrite their existing files, ala to the Nuke root and keep the same directory structure.
So if your Nuke files run in the root 'public_html', you put your forums files from 'html there.

On a side note the full package is subject to the same limitations confronted by users when upgrading phpBB: modded forums cannot or should not be upgraded by this method, and template files other than subSilver will require editing if the template author has not released an updated copy for phpBB 2.0.23 which of course has to be ported over in order for it to work with Nuke. A template manual upgrade file is missing from this package but i do plan to make one with instructions that cover the upgradable versions of BBtoNuke, it will consist of instructions because putting out a upgrade for all available templates out there is not possible at the moment.
