For a site that doesn't allow messages of more than 140 characters, Twitter has been the source of much gaming news of late. Two weeks after GameSpot UK correspondent Guy Cocker used it to reveal that Eidos' PR agency was trying to delay negative Tomb Raider reviews, Newsweek games reporter N'Gai Croal has employed it to apparently bust open Activision's entire 2009 lineup.
Modern Warfare will return.
In a series of "tweets" sent this afternoon, Croal recounted events from a presentation in New York announcing Activision's new deal with in-game ad firm Massive Inc. First and foremost is that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will arrive in fall 2009. Although big, the news isn't particularly surprising, given the schedule that has Infinity Ward and Treyarch alternating development duties to ensure a new game each year. Treyarch's Call of Duty ...
Who you going to call? GHOSTBUSTERS!! The game looks graphics, though a bit of a cartoon look to them, they look great. The best part all the same actors have been included with voices and motion capture. This looks to be a refreshing twist from all the first person shooters flooding the market.
REDMOND, Wash. — Dec. 1, 2008 — Microsoft Corp.’s Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system kicked off the holidays with record-breaking console sales on one of the biggest shopping weekends of the year in the U.S. Retailers reported Xbox 360 console sales over the Black Friday weekend were on pace to beat previous years, outselling the PlayStation 3 by a three-to-one ratio and estimating a 25 percent increase from Xbox 360 Black Friday sales figures from 2007.
Strong game sales rounded out a historic Black Friday for Xbox 360, with record-paced software sales continuing for key Microsoft titles, such as “Gears of War 2,” “Fable II,” and “Lips.” Xbox 360 continues to have the highest game attach rate of any console at 8.1 games per console.
“We entered into the Black Friday sales period with cautious optimism, knowing that dollar for dollar, Xbox 360 offers more social entertainm ...
BBC iPlayer staff have posted on the BBC forum that the iPlayer is now PS3 friendly and works perfectly, so all videos now work through the official site and in full screen.
While the websites of game retailers are not typically the most reliable place for rumors, we have just that: a rumor from a game retailer website. GameStop is taking pre-orders for upcoming GTAIV DLC, Grand Theft Auto IV: Lost and Damned. The thing is, GameStop points out that the packaging does not include a disc and that it's "downloadable content only." What's more, the retailer adds that the customers “must have an Xbox Live account” and “a copy of Grand Theft Auto IV on Xbox 360” to play it. If true, maybe people will buy this as a present, which kinda makes sense. Seems like a lot of hassle for DLC — that's DownLoable Content and not DiscLess Content!
One of our secret correspondents inside an EB Games store forwarded us this picture of an internal email sent out to the videogame retail company, saying that not only was the week of WotLK's launch the biggest sales week of the year, but it was the biggest week ever outside of last year's Christmas sales, and ...
Bungie’s upcoming Halo project, announced as Halo 3: Recon has undergone an official name change. Now the title will be known as Halo 3: ODST. The ODST acronym stands for "Orbital Drop Shock Troopers." These elite soldiers will be the focus on the upcoming game and the tale will be told from their perspective rather than Master Chief’s.
What’s the reason for the name change? We contacted Microsoft and a representative told IGN, "We decided that "Halo 3: ODST" was a better name for this title as we look to build out this new character and the story behind the title."
The official editor for Fallout 3 is hitting PCs for free next month and both the PC and 360 are getting DLC come January, with more due in February and March, Bethesda Softworks announced today.
“We’ve always seen the original world of Fallout 3 as a foundation for even more content. Some created by us, and a lot more created by users,” said Todd Howard, game director for Fallout 3. “It’s fun to create your own character, but it can be equally fun to create your own adventures. We can’t wait to see what the community does with the G.E.C.K.”
The Garden of Eden Creation Kit will let users create, modify, and edit any data for use with Fallout 3, from building landscapes, towns, and locations to writing dialogue, creating characters, weapons and creatures.
The three downloadable content packs coming to the 360 and Games for Windows Live starting in January will add new quests, items and content:

Sony Europe has declined to comment on the supposedly leaked contents of its staff annual briefing, dismissing a report by D+Pad as "rumour and speculation," reports our sister site, Eurogamer.net.
The information, provided by an attending "source", included plans to be "more competitive" with PS3 pricing from March 2009.
Sony Europe boss David Reeves is also alleged to have said there will be technical innovations to come for both PS3 and PSP, although no details were given.
The source claims to have seen footage of Uncharted 2 and God of War 3 for the PlayStation 3, and LittleBigPlanet on PSP, which it's claimed Media Molecule has been working on for four months. According to the report, target footage of MotorStorm PSP was also shown.
I love Sony RPG games, but I havent been able to afford to play any of them due to my playing World of Warcraft like a full time job. Curious to see how this game spans out, square has always been noted for their beautiful graphics and game play was always unique in some way. Launch day is coming we will have to wait and see how it goes. A brand new franchise is what they seem to be creating maybe replacing Final Fantasy series.
